Business Card-- Hello My Name Is...

Okay so this is my business card for Extreme Elements. I decided to go with something that everyone recognizes, and it is kind of comical in a weird sort of way. It is playful, yet still professional which is a perfect combination for a graphic design business, if you ask me. I decided to flip the back to give it something different on the back instead of the same thing, something thats not repetitive. I was kind of worried about using my logo too many times, but I think that it needed to be consistent, but not overwhelming so I reached a median. This was a fun project, I really enjoyed the independence without much direction, it made my mind spin--which I LOVE.

PATTERN

So I mad this type of pattern because I love these colors and I love the type of fairytale-ish kind of vintagey-but-not-really look, it's my favorite. I love how it kined of looks retro a little bit. I would definitely buy wall paper with this on it, but I would make the spacing smaller, I had some trouble with that, it didn't space very well--it has too much negative space. But overall I really like the way the graphic turned out.

CATE logo--undecided.

Okay, so I had A LOT of fun with this project. At first I was just doing random stuff and then I decided to go into logos that everyone knows and just redesign it with CATE for the text. I kind of did a replica of the Seinfeld logo, a replica of the Ebay logo, a replica of The Price is Right logo (I miss Bob Barker), I also did a replica of the Bonnie Hunt Show logo which turned out to look very retro (LOVE retro!), and then I did a replica of the  M*A*S*H logo, I attempted other replicas but...obviously they didn't turn out that well because they are not posted. But anyway I did the branch and the bird because I'm weirdly obsessed with nature-ish looking things, well fake nature looking things (does that make sense?). I did the logo with the sun because its just straightforward and kind of symbolizes a brighter future, I guess? And I did the hanger thing because I thought it looked cool in my mind so I threw it onto illustrator and it turned out that it does look kind of cool. So I think that's all for now, if I think of anything else to say I will come back and continue to rant.
kthanksbye.

Logo *sigh*

So...this is my logo. First of all, let me stand up and clap for professional graphic designers--it is way harder than I had expected, not really technologically but psychologically-does that make sense? There were some points in the process that I was huffing and puffing and about to pull my hair out because I just couldn't get the effect and end result that I wanted and had envisioned. Okay now let me explain my logo, my company's name is Extreme Elements which is a design and marketing company specifically for extreme sports (snowboarding, BMX, bungee, skydiving, etc etc etc). The reason I chose a certain area to specialize in, is because I think that it would never get boring and that if I had to do a logo for a company in general that doesn't specialize in any certain area, it'd be boring. I wanted something bold, and just EXTREME, yet simple of course. Well that, and I'd get to meet REALLY hot guys--I certainly have a thing for extreme sports athletes, love them.
Shaun White--call me! (but cut your hair first)
I made several different designs featuring several different sporting events, I chose snowboarding because it is easy to identify. I also got much needed opinions from the fabulous Animation II class--THANK YOU!
But overall, I think that I am happy with my logo--I'm just not used to simple, I want complex and gaudy but I calmed my mind for this project. :D
